We intend to show this during the luncheon reception on May 18 as well.
Coming soon!
Yes, yes we are.
Yes! But please be prepared to supervise them. The indoors is in no way childproofed, the outdoors features (among other attractive nuisances) a large pond, and there are several large and small furry animals on the premises.
We held a small private religious and legal ceremony the morning of Friday, February 14th, in Cambridge, MA. Officiating for us was Rabbi Rim Meirowitz, who was Erica's rabbi back in Waltham in the mid-1990s (exactly when she and Aaron first knew each other), and who also happens to specialize in interfaith weddings.
Immediately after our Boston festivities, we disappeared to Vermont for a couple of days (President's Day weekend).
Shortly after our Indiana festivities, we intend to take an Epic Roadtrip Honeymoon and drive cross-country to celebrate with Erica's family members in California. This is something we've both always wanted to do, and it seems like the perfect opportunity. We expect to be on the road at least a month and return to Indiana by the end of June 2014.
Is anything in this world truly permanent? :-) Yes, we intend to settle there indefinitely. Once we're there, we'll see how it actually goes.
She looks forward to collaborating with Aaron in his technology consulting business, and continuing to do freelance graphic design work, as well as having more time for writing, art, and music. In July, we'll consider whether to start looking for more full-time opportunities.
At a mutual friend's wedding in Valpo in July 1994. This was well after Erica had moved away to Boston and finished college there. True story: At the reception, Erica's mom, who was also in attendance, spotted Aaron across the room and said to Erica, "He looks cute*, why don't you go dance with him?"
* Meaning, vaguely geeky and potentially Jewish. Mom knows her audience!
When Erica said, "I'm not going over there!", Mom said, "Fine, I'll go talk to him for you!" And she did! She walked over to Aaron, pointed out Erica, and he was powerless to resist. :-)
We danced one dance, maybe two, and then talked until sunrise (since Erica was flying back to Boston the next day). This touched off approximately 3.5 years of not-quite-dating and complex long-distance feelings... which never really went away, on either side, even when circumstances pulled us apart.
In some sense, yes, but it really depends on how you count it. We fell in love 19+ years ago, but needed the intervening time to grow into the people who would be ready for each other. Our new guiding principle is not to waste any more of this precious gift we have been given, for which we are both so so grateful.
Not at this writing! But please send us your good thoughts and wishes for the coming year.
